Gaudete
Gaudete is the association formed to support the work of the choir and the music department.
It consists of interested members of the parish and beyond, and some members of the choir, together with the Director of Music and the Parish Priest. It works hard to support the work of the parish music department, and raises money for all manner of resources for the church and its music.
The biennial Festival of Music and Art is just one example of the work Gaudete does within the parish. The next festival is due to take place in 2010. Other fundraising activities such as regular quiz nights and cakestalls along with concerts form the calendar of events each year. Donations towards this work, including patronage of the biennial Festival is always warmly welcomed.
The annual ADVENT CAROL SERICE takes place on the 3RD SUNDAY OF ADVENT (GAUDETE SUNDAY) each year, to which all are warmly invited to attend. This year it is on SUNDAY 21ST of DECEMBER at 6.P.M.
Gaudete is Latin and means: Rejoice!
Membership of ‘Gaudete’ is open to all who wish to support this important and unique living heritage of liturgical music in this most westerly parish in England. Please consider becoming a member in order to support this unique tradition in Penzance. (Contact the membership Secretary at the parish office of the above church)
Membership includes an annual newsletter covering many aspects of the music ministry and invitations (with concessions) to events promoted by the music department.
